VergeSense, the Workplace AI Platform helping the world’s largest enterprises plan and optimize their offices, today announced an expansion of its integration with Microsoft Places. With this release, Microsoft Places customers can activate VergeSense’s AI-powered Predictive Planning capabilities directly from the floor plans they already manage in Places, with no additional onboarding or sensor deployment required.
The announcement coincides with Microsoft Places becoming available to a broader set of Microsoft 365 customers after the recent April 1st license changes. As Places adoption grows, so does the pool of organizations that can immediately tap VergeSense’s Predictive Planning capabilities
Building on a Foundation of Innovation
This release builds on two earlier VergeSense integrations with Microsoft Places. The first, announced in July 2024, brought VergeSense real-time occupancy data into Microsoft Places to reduce ghost bookings and increase space availability for employees. The second, announced in December 2024, added seamless conversion of VergeSense floor plans into the IMDF format used by Places, making it easy for joint customers to keep their workplace systems in sync.
This latest expansion takes the collaboration from descriptive to predictive. Rather than just understanding how space was used in the past, Microsoft Places customers can now leverage AI-enabled predictive capabilities to confidently plan for the future.
From Occupancy Data to AI-Powered Planning
With the expanded integration, Microsoft Places customers can:
- Export their existing floor plans directly into VergeSense Predictive Planning, eliminating manual setup and gaining an immediate foundation for AI-powered space planning.
- Right-size portfolios and redesign workplaces based on AI-driven utilization forecasts, not just historical trends, enabling faster and more defensible planning decisions.
- Simulate layout changes and headcount scenarios to understand the downstream impact of design and occupancy choices before making costly capital commitments.
The integration also runs in the other direction. VergeSense customers who have already digitized their floor plans can export them directly into Microsoft Places, seeding Places as their floor plan source of truth from day one.
The Power of the Large Spatial Model
At the core of the integration is VergeSense’s Large Spatial Model, the industry’s largest behavioral benchmark of how enterprise workplaces are used, trained on more than eight years of real-world workplace behavior across 250+ million square feet. By combining floor plan data managed inside Microsoft Places with VergeSense’s predictive modeling capabilities, organizations gain an end-to-end picture of their portfolio: from how their spaces are used today to what those spaces should look like next.
The result is a step-change in speed and confidence for workplace planning decisions. Customers using VergeSense Predictive Planning have already applied the model to right-size portfolios, redesign offices, and avoid millions in unnecessary real estate spend, including more than $60M in lease avoidance for one Fortune 500 company.
“The Large Spatial Model marks a turning point for workplace decision-making. For the first time, real estate and workplace leaders can move from reporting the past to predicting what’s next. This integration brings that capability to every Microsoft Places customer, using the floor plans they already have, with no new infrastructure required.”
– Dan Ryan, CEO of VergeSense
“The future of workplace planning is predictive, not just descriptive. Our collaboration with VergeSense reflects our shared vision to giving real estate and workplace leaders AI-powered tools that help them plan smarter and justify their decisions with confidence. For organizations already using both platforms, the path from floor plan to predictive insight is now seamless.”
– Brennan McReynolds, Product Lead, Microsoft Places at Microsoft
Shaping the Future of Workplace Decision-Making
The expanded integration reflects the growing demand for connected, intelligent workplace solutions that go beyond historical reporting and instead leverage predictive capabilities for the future. Together, VergeSense and Microsoft Places give real estate and workplace leaders a clear path from data to decision, while delivering better day-to-day experiences for employees.
As organizations continue navigating portfolio consolidation, hybrid work evolution, and rising pressure to justify real estate spend, this integration provides the decision confidence leaders need, backed by the largest spatial dataset in the industry.
