LA JOLLA, CA, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Events.com, the infrastructure behind live events and experiences, today announced the completed acquisition of Operabase, the performing arts’ definitive platform for discovery, casting and professional data, operated by Copenhagen-based Arts Consolidated ApS.

Events.com is committed to supporting and expanding Operabase’s next-generation AI and data technologies. As a result of the acquisition, the combined Events.com and Operabase will extend the platform’s information engine and data graph across all categories of live events worldwide.

Operabase, operated by Arts Consolidated ApS, has spent 30 years doing the hardest job in cultural data: collecting, verifying and structuring the record of truth for live performances with human oversight. The result is a first-party interactive archive and data graph of more than one million productions, built natively in 31 languages, trusted by the world’s leading performing arts organizations to cast roles and plan seasons, drawing millions of organic visits a year.
Operabase will continue to focus on serving the needs of the influential performing arts community, with continued investment in the product, data and capabilities its customers have come to rely on to help them be discovered and recognized for their work. Artists have come to rely on the strong foundation built by Arts Consolidated.

The platform will continue to develop capabilities across discovery, casting intelligence, archival research, artist development and audience engagement. Its multilingual foundation will expand in scale and services, with plans underway to launch the platform in Arabic.

At the group level, Events.com will integrate the underlying technology, data architecture and intelligence capabilities developed through Operabase as it incorporates its broader information platforms for the global experience economy. Events.com board member Doug R. Harrison, a seasoned technology and brand executive who led the acquisition, will guide the platform’s integration across the portfolio of companies within the existing Events.com properties.

“We are excited to expand the surface area for event goers and event producers to access more intuitive and trusted experiences with the addition of the Operabase team,” said Doug R. Harrison, Events.com board member. “”Operabase’s product, data and engineering teams have onboarded and are now plugged into the greater Events.com network of employees worldwide, continuing their work from Copenhagen,”

“We’ve built a data platform that turns thousands of fragmented sources into a single connected, machine-readable record of live performance, spanning countries, cultures and languages, while combining automated reconciliation and AI-assisted quality assurance with expert human oversight,” said Peter Palludan, chief technology officer of Operabase. “Operabase applies that technology to opera and performing arts, but the underlying platform is designed for the full breadth of the live performance economy.”

“Operabase has been called the ‘LinkedIn of the performing arts,’ and we’re honored to extend that vision across the entire world of events and experiences. Reference data graphs that people subscribe to, and get real value from, are built patiently, over years, with no shortcuts,” said Mitch Thrower, CEO, chairman and founder of Events.com. “Operabase’s investors and builders funded and verified a record of live performance that exists nowhere else; as a result, artists have real agency in a machine-driven world, helping them stay discoverable, verifiable and representative of their authentic work. Events.com is here to help this scale.”

Events.com previously announced that it had executed a $200 million share subscription facility with Global Emerging Markets (“GEM”), upsized from the company’s initial $100 million facility.

“Over the past several years, we transformed Operabase from a niche performing arts database into a multi-genre information marketplace capable of understanding and connecting live events at scale. Events.com now gives us the opportunity to fulfill that ambition, providing one platform powering discovery and intelligence across the entire live events ecosystem,” said Bharani Vasudev Setlur, chief executive officer, Operabase. “Many have been instrumental on this path, notably our teams, whose expertise led to this transformation; our customers, whose trust shaped the product; founder Mike Gibb, for his guidance over the past seven years; and our principal investors, Lars Gjoerup, August Schram and Henrik Holmark, for their ongoing support, and Ulrike Köstinger for her prior leadership in the CEO role. She expanded our reach into new geographies, and we are grateful for her leadership and wish her every success.”

“Expanding Operabase from an opera-focused database to serving the full performing arts community and extending its reach into new markets globally gives me great pride, as we have supported professionals worldwide with standalone tools and services,” said Ulrike Köstinger, former CEO of Operabase. “I am confident that Operabase is in good hands for its next chapter with Events.com.”

Operabase joins a family of owned brands and properties that spans the full range of live experiences. Events.com owns Summit, the renowned invitation-only community of founders, creators and cultural leaders; Remo, the global virtual platform that serves Fortune 100 companies; the La Jolla Concours d’Elegance; and the Wonderfront Music & Arts Festival. The company’s acquisition history also includes Evensi, the AI-driven event discovery engine. Events.com has powered events globally across multiple countries.
