BridgeYear Celebrates a Decade of Connecting Houston’s Youth to In-Demand Career Pathways
Houston, United States – April 4, 2026 / BridgeYear /
HOUSTON, TX – BridgeYear, a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to guiding students toward meaningful careers beyond the traditional four-year degree, is proud to celebrate a decade of impact with its 10th Anniversary Luncheon on April 14, 2026, at The Briar Club.
The milestone event, presented by The Friedkin Group and Gulf States Toyota, will bring together employers, educators, corporate partners, and community leaders to honor a decade of progress in workforce development while charting a bold path forward for Houston’s next generation of talent.
A Decade of Closing the Education-to-Employment Gap
For the past ten years, BridgeYear has worked to address a critical challenge facing students and employers alike: the gap between education and employment. While many conversations about postsecondary success focus exclusively on four-year degrees, BridgeYear recognizes that students have multiple pathways to economic mobility.
“Eighty percent of our graduates not earning a living wage is a clear signal that we need new strategies,” said Victoria Chen, BridgeYear’s Co-Founder and Executive Director. “Over the last decade, we have proven that by providing hands-on exploration and direct connections to employer-led training, we can move the needle on economic stability for Houston’s youth.”
Through strategic partnerships with schools and industry leaders, BridgeYear now reaches over 12,000 young people annually, helping them explore in-demand careers and connect to pathways such as certification programs, apprenticeships, and workforce-aligned training.
Celebrating Proven Programs and Future Vision
The luncheon will highlight the evolution of BridgeYear’s ecosystem, which connects schools directly to the hiring needs of the Houston economy. Key milestones from the past decade include:
- Career Test Drive®: Hands-on simulations that have allowed thousands of students to “try out” careers in healthcare, skilled trades, and technology.
- Career Cohorts: A high-touch program that recently expanded to include BridgeYear’s first employer-led apprenticeship program, allowing students to earn while they learn.
- MorePathways®: A digital “GPS” connecting 25,000+ unique users to vetted, low-cost training programs.
A Community Call-to-Action
The 10th Anniversary Luncheon is designed to move attendees beyond awareness and toward meaningful investment. Houston’s economy continues to face talent shortages in healthcare support, automotive technology, and technical services. BridgeYear’s collaborative model demonstrates how Houston employers play an active and critical role in preparing the next generation of the workforce.
By partnering with BridgeYear, employers gain early exposure to motivated talent, helping to solve the skilled labor shortage while providing students from underserved communities with a roadmap to the middle class.
Join the Movement
